Kristin began her pet sitting business in 1995 with the intention of doing the business part-time while pursing a 'real career'. After a year of part-time sitting, her business began to grow and she quit her day job and began to run her sitting business full-time. As Kristin pointed out she knew nothing about running a business when she started. She just knew she loved animals and the job seemed like a good fit for her.
She admits she made many major mistakes along the way in almost all areas including (but not limited to) marketing, business and money management, hiring/firing, pricing, and the art of selling my clients on my service, just to name a few things.
In discussing the opportunity with Kristin Morrison it was an eye opener to see the number of her clients and her income.
After a couple of years of running her business she suddenly noticed she was working 12-14 hours a day, often 7 days a week and somehow not making a profit.
Her hectic work schedule and the responsibilities of owning her own business made her feel that I had a leash around her neck!
She began to think seriously about quitting. She now had a taste of being self-employed.
She then decided that she wanted to find a way to make her pet sitting business work for her instead of against her.
For the next year Kristin changed the way she was doing business. Her new unique business practices and her ever-increasing business knowledge began to be reflected in her steadily rising profit margin and also reflected in the ease with which she now managed her business.
Recognizing a lack of business education for pet sitters and also realizing that a lot of pet sitters in were running their non-traditional businesses in traditional ways Kristin created the Six-Figure Pet Sitting Academy with the intention to give struggling pet sitters hope and a solid road map to creating their own successful and ease-filled businesses.
